What is a Company?
A Company is a select group of shining stars who represent Progress at performances and competitions. They work together through their dance journeys to lift each other up - becoming happy humans and strong dancers, who feel like they have a combined purpose and sense of belonging.
Our Companies will grow up through their dance journeys together either as part of Company Pink, Company Yellow, or Company Red. When they are seniors, they get to become Company Blue and compete under our studio colour.
Why did you invite my dancer?
At Progress it's about more than just dancing. We invite the dancers who show talent and potential, but also that display amazing work ethic, passion and kindness, and a team mindset. The kids know - it’s all about Great People, Great Dancers!
Company is a select group of shining stars who represent Progress at performances and competitions. They work together through their dance journeys to lift each other up - becoming happy humans and strong dancers. In 2023 we kickstarted two companies- Company Yellow (Junior) and Company Red (Pre-Teen)- to celebrate their accomplishments. In 2024, we’ll be continuing with these teams, as well as introducing our BRAND NEW Company Pink for our Pre-Junior dancers. In 2024 our Company Red and Yellow dancers will each perform a Jazz routine, and a combined Theatre Dance routine.
First and foremost, joining a Company will make your dancer feel a sense of belonging. Our Companies will grow up together through their dance journeys either as part of Company Pink, Company Yellow, Company Red; learning to work together towards common goals and make lifelong friends. Through goal setting, our dancers accelerate their training- and most importantly boost their own confidence and work ethic by a MILE! By writing down and ticking off their own goals, our dancers become confident that they can do anything if they put their minds to it. Competitions provide our dancers with a goal to work towards together, and competing teaches dancers work ethic, dedication, confidence in front of a crowd, and resilience. Most importantly: company instills a value of working hard and showing up for oneself, and their friends!
It is important to note that Progress is not, and will never be, a competition-focused studio. Our main focus is working to the highest standards to create happy dancers and work towards creating dancers who have the ability to achieve a long career in dance- or the skills, work ethic, and confidence to succeed in whatever career they chose to pursue. This is all to say that the trophies are not our priority; our dancers' development is. The goal of Company is to encourage their passion and provide more performance opportunities! More than anything, we value happy, healthy, and kind humans. We will celebrate their wins like nobody else, but we are not there to put any unnecessary pressure on our dancers.
